KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

We look forward to hosting you at a GIAA State Tournament. The following information is provided in order to make the experience more enjoyable for you and everyone at the event. In addition to general information that pertains to all events, you will also find site-specific information below.

FAN EXPECTATIONS

The GIAA encourages and promotes sportsmanship by student-athletes, coaches, and spectators. Disruptive behavior of any kind, including but not limited to protests, demonstrations, profanity, racial, ethnic, or sexist comments, or other intimidating actions, will not be tolerated. Tournament managers and event personnel have the authority to remove individuals for inappropriate behavior or comments.

Noisemakers

Schools will not permit the use of megaphones, bullhorns, or other electronically amplifying devices used by fans, students, or coaches to cheer or harass players before, during, or after any GIAA event.

Artificial noisemakers are defined as instruments that produce a wave or vibration, audible, electromagnetic, or other signals, generated by a human source.

Examples of Artificial Noisemakers: Megaphones; Bullhorns; Cowbells; Air Horns; and Whistles.

  • FOR INDOOR SPORTS (Basketball; Volleyball): Artificial Noisemakers are prohibited for indoor sports.
  • FOR OUTDOOR SPORTS (Football; Softball; Soccer; Baseball): Artificial noisemakers, except air horns, whistles, or any other electronic devices are permitted for outdoor sports. Illegal artificial noisemakers will be confiscated when visible and/or used.
Standing Policy

Standing for prolonged lengths of time may be permissible at GIAA-sponsored athletic events, depending upon the tournament site/facility.

Drone/UAV Policy

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (“UAV”), also known as drones, is prohibited for any purpose by any persons at GIAA tournament venues. Tournament management shall refuse admission or entry to anyone attempting to use a UAV; and if necessary, tournament management shall remove anyone attempting to use a UAV and/or confiscate the UAV until the event has been completed. For purposes of this policy, a UAV is any aircraft without a human pilot aboard the device.

TICKETS

GIAA State Tournament tickets available for purchase digitally through GoFan, the GIAA’s official ticketing partner. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online in advance of the events, but will have the ability to purchase digital tickets onsite by accessing the GoFan site using their mobile devices, or using cash.

Event Credentials

All spectators using GIAA-issued passes must enter through the Pass Gate. This includes teams/school personnel, event staff, media, corporate partners, and awards presenters. Anyone attempting to enter with a fraudulent event pass will be denied entry.

STREAMING

GIAA.tv will offer a LIVE stream of the majority of the GIAA’s State Tournament events. Unsanctioned live streaming of any GIAA event is PROHIBITED. Any such action is a direct violation of the GIAA media rights and will not be allowed. This includes Facebook, YouTube and other similar streaming services.

APPAREL

Truth Bomb T-Shirts, the GIAA’s official apparel partner, will offer online pre-ordering for GIAA State Tournaments. Pre-orders will be available for pick up at the Truth Bomb T-Shirts booth. Additional items will be available onsite throughout the tournament(s).
